DJ Mell Starr aka "The Most Dangerous" has a voice that enters a space before he does and all at once, the audience knows what they are in for. "This energy is what has earned his respect as the most relentless, the most relied upon to rock a party. Starr has studied a craft that had never before been given recognition or even considered a legitimate skill. Yet, Starr has proven that the DJ is the heart, soul and the backbone, to performers on stage.
For years, DJ Mell Starr has been able to tour in parts of the country, other artists were afraid to touch. Starr’s revolutionary talent began on the turntable at the age of nine, when he attempted a scratch technique, on his family's old Technics turntable. As the years progressed, Starr ultimately gained the status of being a great disc jockey, however, Starr is a multi-faceted talent. Using his craft, he creates new trends in music. He continues to shatter the limitations, so often placed on artists. He has an innovative style, and a knack for choosing just the right crowd-pleasing sound.
Starr first inched his way onto the dance scene with family members and new found friends, such as: Tony Humphries, Tedd Paterson, Butch Williams, DJ Masia and Lil’ Louie Vega. Then he switched venues to work with street DJ's that included: Ron G, DJ Hollywood, DJ Chris Love, Kid Capri, Chuck Chillout, Biz-Markie and Q-Tip. Starr has also toured with platinum artists such as: Usher, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Pharrell, Wale, Mario, N.e.r.d, Jada Kiss, Rhianna and Kanye West. He even performed for Barack Obama’s inauguration party!
As for the future, DJ Mell Starr is expanding on his formula for success as being a top priority DJ, always giving 110%, and helping to pave the way for up and coming DJ's. Starr has far exceeded the expectations of his peers, critics and fans. His love for nurturing his immense talents, has enabled him to represent the music industry, with class and individuality and intensity unmatched in the music industry. The Cut Cafe web radio channel has been a great success and has been going strong, since September 7th of 2010. This has expanded his extended family. He now has numerous DJ's, male and female, who are also on The Cut Cafe Team. Each DJ/Personality, has their own time slot and many more who are interested in joining the team.
