Details: Born Juan Vasquez, December 1976 in Harlem, New York, was raised by his single grandmother in the Douglas Housing Projects while struggling with the fact his father, was doing 15 years to life in a New York State Correctional Facility and a mother who struggled with addictions to both crack cocaine and heroin, home was not always a happy place. There were times that his mother was so high off drugs that she wouldn’t buy groceries for the house leaving him and his baby sister, walking around in a dirty pamper, starving because his mother was so gone off the drugs, nothing else mattered. There were times before his mother got hooked on drugs when they had everything. But as many people know once drugs start to take over it changes a person so although he was attending Joan of Arc Jr. High School, he dropped out in the 9th grade due to the lack of a parental figure and started hustling. At first, he only hustled enough money to make sure that there would be food in the house, clean pampers and nessecities were provided. Soon running the streets from sun up to sun down and being a known face in the streets, Lord Kaos hooked up with OCF (Only Chosen Few or Our Childern First) a bunch of older cats, whom he says built the foundation of his love for the rap game. In his own words "Hanging out late nights in the staircases smoking on tabla and nucleus that’s when the cipher would begin. At first I was scared because the things I wanted to say were personal and I thought people would make fun of but once we wasn't in the stair cases we would all be in Scheme (One of the founding members of O.C.F )house and we would through the beats on and freestyle all night long, if it wasn't for O.C.F I don’t think I would have ever discovered the hidden talent I have now”. So at theearly age of 8 or 9 the name given to him by a good friend but earned in the streets was Lord Kaos. Surrounded by men, with knowledge of the streets, Lord Kaos began to immerse himself in the "life". With the support of his OCF family, he began to learn the rules of the game, of supply and demand. He was gaining attention, so much that his grandmother, whom supported him when his mother won't or couldn't, caught wind and at the age of 12, sent him to a relative in the hopes of saving him from the future that was bound to happen if he continued his path. Bath, New York. A town with only 2 police cars was no match for a "grown" child from Harlem. Equipped with mental and physical ability nurtured by by his OCF family, he dominated the area so much in fact that he was able to quadrupled his profits and eliminate all competition in the town. But it was bittersweet.Soon Lord Kaos found himself in and out of the New York State Correctional system. Knowing this is not what he wanted out of life and that he had a talent with nothing but time on his hands Lord Kaos begin to tighten his skills. Being influenced by artist like Kool G Rap, Mob Style, Rakim, Lord Finesse, KRS One, and RnB artist like Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, and the godfather of soul Mr. James Brown, he made lyrics of street reports, sex, money and drugs along with the long lonely nights of his own incarcerations. He delivers the ying and the yang of the rap game. His label is named Longtime Records and nowadays you can find him in Harlem, N.Y. or Buffalo, N.Y. He received his GED in the state correctional facility, and now has received his Associate’s degree with high honors in Computer Information Systems from I.T.T. Technical Institute. He was recruited by a fortune 500 company, Ingram Micro, and is balancing two careers. Besides his professional careers, he is very interested in finding ways to help parolees with life after being released, such as futhering education and job placement to become productive members of society. When asked what his ultimate goal in music is he replied “to make it big” and his feelings on the current state of hip –hop? Well, he feels that its coming back to life “there are a lot of new and upcoming lyrical rappers getting noticed in the game nowadays, Drake, J.Cole etc.”, he still listens to some of his favorite artist Cam’ron, Pappose, Manio, Red Café, and DMX. He is looking forward to releasing his first single and working on an album, which at this time he says has no name, but be on the lookout for Lord Kaos Longtime Records coming to your hood soon
