Dare To Be Different! Those are the words that Owner/Creator of Bungee Apparel lives by. Darrell Alston, born and raised on the outskirts of Philadelphia started customizing sneakers in 2004. Soon after, he opened a customized sneaker store on South Street in Philadelphia called “Sneaker Phreaks Boutique”. As his store began to grow, Darrell was indicted and landed himself in prison for 6 years. As an avid sneaker lover, during his incarceration he noticed the absence of a “Lifestyle Shoe” and he took it upon himself to create one. At that point, he taught himself how to sketch, designed a shoe, and created his business plan.
After doing some research, Darrell decided to abandon the traditional way of marketing and promoting sneakers. Instead of catering to sports and athletes, he decided to design his sneakers for Recording Artists, Entertainers, and the everyday person that has their own way of being a celebrity. Once a Recording Artist himself, he understood that it’s mandatory to design a sneaker with a unique flare that commands the room as soon as you enter. Besides being an Artistic Brand, Darrell also made it his duty to create a shoe that specializes in lightweight and comfort as a way to provide high end exclusive fashion for all of the risk takers in the World.
