Details:Biography
For the past three years, twin sisters Nalani & Sarina have been performing their original material throughout the northeast - in notable places such as the Bitter End, Tin Angel, Steel City, Milkboy, World Cafe Live (Philadelphia and Wilmington), etc. They've also been featured in a variety of music festivals including Musikfest, Ladybug Festival, Black Potato Festival, and more. On radio, one of their songs "Start All Over" was selected as WXPN's Philly Local Pick of the Day, as well as "Hung Up" debuting on WSTW's Hometown Heroes (Wilmington, DE). In addition, they have twice been featured guests on the SiriusXM program "Kick out the Jams" with legendary music critic, Dave Marsh.
In January 2014, Nalani & Sarina released their first full-length album, "Lessons Learned." Designed to present them to a wider audience, it features 14 of their original songs, produced by Greg Drew and Julian Herzfeld. In addition to Nalani & Sarina's playing and singing, the album features the considerable talents of some of NYC's finest musicians - Will Lee (bassist for the Letterman band), Joe Bonadio (drummer of Sting), Tommy Mandel (keys for Bryan Adams), and Tom 'Bones' Malone (member of CBS Orchestra). The twins recently finished recording a new EP, "Scattered World", to be released in June 2015.
"The sisters out Prince Prince with their sexy, fresh, sonically-tight, new power soul throwdown." -Keith Creighton, Popdose (Review of new single "We'll Be Free")
“Considering their musicianship, their sweet swaying rhythmic thrust, and their astonishing level of composition, we may be looking at the ‘next big thing.’” -Mike Greenblatt, The Aquarian Weekly
“Not altogether pop, not quite the soul of yesteryear, and not quite the typical singer-songwriter archetype, it’s difficult to place the sisters in any one genre, but that’s what makes them so listenable: There’s a little something for everyone.” -Allie Volpe, Philadelphia Daily News
“To see and hear them now, it’s hard to believe they might not always be this cute and fresh, but listen to their music a bit closer and you’ll realize they won’t have to be.” -Dave Marsh, Celebrated Music Critic
