Details:
Mr. Complex, true to his name, is a recording artist, performer, director, actor, burgeoning author and entrepreneur. His diverse artistic output spans several hip hop and film eras.
Mr. Complex rose to prominence as an emcee, establishing a cult following in the mid 90s following the release of three critically acclaimed solo albums “Hold This Down”, “Twisted Mister”, and “The Complex Catalogue”. The success of the projects lead him to work with such artists as De La Soul, Mos Def, El-P, Common, and Masta Ace, as well as touring parts of Europe and Asia. He also performed on “Live from LA” on BET and “Source Sound Lab” on UPN alongside Pharoahe Monch. In 1999, he recorded a project with supergroup Polyrhythm Addicts featuring DJ Spinna, Shabaam Shadeeq and Apani B Fly called “Rhythm Related” to critical acclaim. His 2001 single “Underground Up” was featured in the hit movie “Brown Sugar”. His latest project with Polyrhythm Addicts called “Break Glass…” was released in 2007. As Trugoy from De La Soul once remarked, “The engine of his comprehension is just too complex”.
Mr. Complex is currently directing his debut full length feature entitled “Revenge of the Soundman” as well as his new album, originally recorded in Switzerland, “Swiss Chocolate Cake”.
