Sammy Zone (Samuel Lopez Roman Jr.) was born March 5, 1969 and raised in Manhattan’s Lower East Side in New York City. Growing up, one of Sammy’s many talents was writing Graffiti which eventually led to his nickname “Zone”.
As a young man he ventured out into many fields of entertainment including Djing and Break Dancing. But it was on one fateful afternoon in 1987 when Sammy was walking down the street singing along to his walk-man an A&R person from Atlantic records approached him with the opportunity to begin his career as a recording artist on that label. Sammy became the third member of a group call “Release”. The Group recorded three singles. The Singles were produced by Janet Padlad, Patrick Adams, & Mico “Producer for Steven Spielberg’s Star Wars Soundtrack”. Club 1018’s Host Richie Rich took an interest in the group and started managing them. The group performed at several clubs including “Roseland”, “1018”, “Broadway 96’, and many of New York’s upscale clubs alongside many of freestyle’s biggest names.
Sammy Zone has also released music on labels such as NY Track Records, High Power Records as well Warner Brothers who pushed his music in South America & Brazil.
In 1988 Sammy Zone & N.V. (Noel Valei) started a group call “One on One”. The group was signed to NY Track Records, NY Track records at the time was a small independent label owned by Phillip Rivera owner of “Personal Limousine. Personal Limousine’s at that time held all the transportation accounts for radio station “HOT 97” Sammy Zone & N.V. “One On One” later recorded a single titled “Parting In Tears” . Later in 1989 Sammy & N.V. signed to Tony Garcia’s “High Power Records” The Group split up but that’s were Sammy began his solo career.
Over the years, Sammy has performed on stage singing and dancing in many legendary Night clubs and concerts all around the world. One of his fondest memories is his month long tour in Brazil where he filled stadiums with thousands of fans in 1995. It was so huge he had to be escorted by armed military and Brazilian police. He has also danced for several Latin Freestyle groups and has worked with many of that genre's most successful artists, as well as some of its greatest producers. He has also written many of the songs we love and hear today.Sammy Zone decided to take some time off from music to start a family, now a devoted husband and father of four beautiful girls, he finds that the music keeps calling him and with his families support, he decided to no longer ignore his passion. Upon his comeback he built a professional relationship with one of freestyles greatest producers “Carlos After Dark Berrios” who has given new life to Sammy Zone.
Together they have released two singles, one titled “Carlos Berrios vs. Sammy Zone ‘Without You” and the other Sammy Zone “Running”. Produced by Carlos Berrios, Executive Producer Fernando Torres and written by Sammy Zone, these songs will bridge the long awaited gap that Freestyle has been waiting for!!
Frederick Brandon Williams ;(born February 13, 1966), better known by his stage name Freedom Williams is an American hip hop and dance music performer, who gained fame as the lead vocalist on C+C Music Factory's biggest hits
As Audio Two, Brooklyn-based brothers and former Awesome Foursome members Gizmo Dee ;(Nat Robinson) and Milk Dee ;(Kirk Robinson) broke out with "Top Billin'," the B-side of "Make It Funky," their debut single. Produced by Daddy O of Stetsasonic, "Top Billin'" became a hip-hop classic, and was sampled, referenced, and even covered following its 1987 release. Issued on Robinson family operation First Priority, the track led to a distribution deal with Atlantic. Through that major label, Audio Two, who had also attained clout as the producers credited on early MC Lyte singles like "I Cram 2 Understand U (Sam)" and "10% Dis," released a pair of albums. What More Can I Say? ;(1988) cracked the Billboard 200. I Don't Care: The Album ;(1990) wasn't nearly as successful, marred by some viciously homophobic rhymes; Atlantic head Ahmet Ertegun said he wouldn't have released the objectionable material if he had heard it prior to release. A third Audio Two album, First Dead Indian, was recorded but shelved, and the duo subsequently split. Milk released a 1994 EP on Rick Rubin's American Recordings and was behind Eamon's Top 20 pop hit "Fuck It (I Don't Want You Back)" the following decade. Gizmo, often credited as "You Can Ask" Giz, went on to mix and engineer dozens of recordings by the likes of Jaheim, Tyrese, and Faith Evans.
