Lean Brim was born and raised in the streets of Harlem, NY. Surrounded by gangs and quick money, Lean quickly learned the art of the game and rose up in street ranks. After several stints in and out of jail from 14 to 18 and the birth of his son, he began to think about how to take his masterful abilities as a hustler and using it to sell his number one product-himself.
It was while hustling on 125th in front of the famed Apollo theatre, he honed his skills as a clever lyricist who wowed the endless crowds with his wit, delivery, and swag. He gathered the attention of Sony Music Group who recognized his talents as a songwriter and employed him to write for 5 different genres, something Lean Brim credits to his ever changing style and “33 flows”.
It wasn’t long before rumors of Lean Brim’s battle skills began to circulate and other rappers began traveling from all over to pit their skills against Harlem’s lyrical king. He was able to parlay this notoriety into a featured slot on BET’s 106 & Park “Freestyle Friday” where he was voted the winner for 6 straight weeks in a row! From touring gigs with Fat Joe & the Terror Squad, collabs with The Weekend, Soulja Boy, and the Cool Kids and a host of ghostwriting opportunities for top rap, pop, country, rock and r&b artists—Lean Brim is steadily staking his spot in the music industry as a multi faceted force to be reckoned with.
Often compared to innovators such as 50 cent and Kanye West to Andre 3000, his latest mixtape “Live Love Lean” does not disappoint. Hypnotizing melodies, nostalgic lyrics, pop culture references and whimsical creativity embody the first singles, Mrs Parker & Lurkin, from the heavily buzzing mixtape by Lean Brim, Live Love Lean. Lean Brim’s newest singles, Mrs Parker & Lurkin are the Young California sound that is currently heating up the airwaves.
He combines trendy sound with frenetic harmony as he sings the hook, “Hey there Mrs Parker...” Lurkin, an ode to haters on social media everywhere is a catchy track, guaranteed to appeal to the masses and make you smile. These singles promise optimism, and deliver plenty of it. Both catchy dance tunes, these song blend the up north lyricism with the West Coast flow that Lean Brim has perfected since relocating to Los Angeles to expand his entertainment empire. Lean has a steady buzz in the streets after his recent Live Love Lean mixtape quickly rose the charts on Dat Piff. He recently performed several stages at SCSW, was just nominated for XXL Freshman 2015 consideration and the Sony songwriter also had several placements on the latest Christ Brown Fan of a Fan album.
