In 1993 hip hop invaded morning radio for the first time. Yo MTV Raps hosts Ed
Lover and Doctor Dre' were brought in by New York's hip hop station to man it's morning
show taking it's conversion to hip hop full swing. Part of that ground breaking morning
team, along with radio vet Lisa G, was Curt Flirt. Brought in to show prep and write
comedy, Curt Flirt was a unique compliment to the radio trio. A veteran of many 'Yo'
guest spots as impromptu characters, Curt Flirt was also fresh off a part in
Ed and Dre's hip hop whodunit 'Who's The Man?'. Ed and Dre were no strangers to Curt's
comedic mind as well as his passion for and knowledge of
hip hop. The tri-state area soon found out about The Flirt. For years to come Curt Flirt
added classic one liners as well as numerous charactor voices to
the hottest morning show in the country. Years later as Ed and Dre
departed the number one urban show to work the west coast, Curt Flirt stayed and lent a
familiar voice and shameless comedy to the various teams
that followed. While working weekend radio and hosting clubs Curt auditioned for and got
another movie roll in Darnel Martin's critically acclaimed underground film "A
Prison Song".
Growing up Curt used his
comedic timing and life experiences to act in church and school productions, staying
sharp and preparing for a career he didn't know he would enter.
In 2001 another hip hop station would enter the scene and stir things up. How could
a station come to the biggest market in the country and challenge a ten year old
monopoly? One thing the brain trust knew, New York would
not take quickly to new jacks. They had to start with Ed and Dre! Icing on the cake was
Lisa G, supervising producer Wayne Mayo, and of course Curt Flirt. Curt Flirt helped once
again to make a ground breaking impact on
New York radio at Power 1051.
Curt Flirt can now be heard on Power 105 on the weekends and is also lending his voice
and writing talents to radio shows across the country. Fifteen plus years into his radio
career in the most competitive market in the
country, as Power continues to break records in ratings growths, Curt Flirt looks
steadily to grow and evolve with the industry. Siting his boundless talents, this should
only be a matter of time.
Ha cha cha cha!
