Blending the familiarity of 90’s hip-hop with a modern day twist Givenchy’s vocals are delivered in a rich and raspy voice that has mass appeal. Representing Flatbush Brooklyn, Lia is no rookie entering the music industry. As an uncredited song writer (“ghostwriter”) for over 8 years, Lia was the force behind the pen for several well-known artists in the hip-hop industry.
Born in South America of Guyanese decent with 3 siblings & her mother, she received encouragement and support from her family. Dreams of coming to America were fulfilled in 2003 when Lia’s mother relocated her family to Flatbush Brooklyn, NY. Armed with her West Indian morals, her musical talent and undying ambition, Lia Givenchy was born.
During her teenage years, Lia began listening to artists such as Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Ludacris and Eve, and underground reggae music. It was then, she found herself humming along, dropping her own bars as the track played. Since then Givenchy has evolved her sound with lyrics & delivery that is ready for the world to enjoy.
Taking a chance and emptying her pockets, Lia created Bartica Records in 2014. In early 2015 “Lime Light” and “Givenchy Code” were released as test singles. The reviews and response have been overwhelmingly positive. Since then Lia has started working with Grammy nominated producers and engineers. She has piqued the interests of some very influential labels, but a top notch project must be presented to ensure Lia Givenchy remains an independent artist.
