Artist: Roze Blaze

Birthed in Harlem and spending his childhood in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, hip- hop recording artist Roze Blaze was literally born and raised by New York. Both cultural locations impacted Roze from an early age. Hearing his first hip hop song at the age of 9, Roze became intrigued by Slick Rick’s “La Di Da Di”. Influenced by Slick Rick’s style, Blaze’s eyes and ears opened and he soon became enamored with the likes of Rakim, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and Nirvana. While other 9 year olds were picking up toys, Roze instead picked up a pen and never put it down. He began beatboxing which led to rapping and at age 10, he formed a hip hop group called KDG which stood for Kid, Dope, and Grip.
The duo performed in talent shows as they perfected their craft entering their teenage years. The passion for music Roze had in his adolescence continues to burn into adulthood. Blaze released his debut project “Classic :The Mixtape Vol. 1” for free download online in November of 2012. Roze gives a no holds barred description of his journey as he details the struggles he endured in his personal life, “Been told that I was nothin’, and always gon’ be nothing.”
Roze not only details the hard times but the positive ones as well. Songs like “Homegirl” highlight the good times with a particular female, “Ever since then we became best friends, you helped me clean up my act and kept me out the pen.” On “Conscious”, Blaze remixes fellow Harlem emcee Camron’s “Touch It Or Not” with his own twist of street tales and tribulations.
Roze continues to blaze his path and has worked with mega producer Mally Mall (Drake, Justin Bieber) and has performed in showcases at the famed SOBs performance venue in Manhattan, NY.An avid writer, Roze writes daily and doesn’t just listen to beats, he lets them consume him during the writing process. “I just listen to the beat first and everything else falls into place, man.
It’s really just the way I’m feeling and what type of emotion that music evokes from me”.Although what is worthwhile is never easy, Roze is ready to take anything that’s thrown at him. “I do this for the love of music. That’s why I keep going. That’s something that I’m going to always love to do, just create music. ”
