Crystal's voice adds a rich baritone/tenor to the silky smooth sound this group emanates. A native of Jersey City, New Jersey Donald spent many years admiring the work of Soul Generation, never imagining that one day he'd be given the opportunity to share their stage as a member of the group. He has put in much time honing his craft and now his rich tenor voice adds an appealing touch of class to the already incredible sound of Soul Generation. Donald comes to Soul Generation via the locally talented group Prime. Quite the local favorite, Prime performed throughout the years serenading their audiences with the soulful sounds of R&B. Truly a wonderful addition Donald Taylor fits right into the Soul Generation groove and is ready, willing and able to help this 21st Century version of Soul Generation take on a bright future.Back in 1972 group originator Cliff Perkins put into motion a dream that would embrace an entire generation (and generations to come). When asked what was the motivating factor in the formation of this group that was initially called The Citations Cliff simply answers, "I just wanted to see if I could do it." His innate talent was awoken by the work of groups like The Temptations, Little Anthony & The Imperials and the Motown sound. That along with the inspiration of his mentor Blue Lovett of the Manhattans put him on the path to musical conception. As he contemplated their work, an inner yearning spoke to him asking, can I do that? Being who he is that quickly became, I can do that! And so began the group that would eventually be known as Soul Generation.Cliff meticulously put together a group that would go down in the annals of R&B history. His intuition was right on point as this brand new group entered the studio to record their first song, which was titled "Body & Soul." Major label Execs. were not impressed with the fledgling group.They wanted no parts of Soul Generation or "Body & Soul." Those same Execs. soon found that they were kicking themselves as "Body & Soul" (marketed by the independent label Ebony Sounds Records) climbed the charts to obtain gold and then platinum status. Soul Generation followed up "Body and Soul" with "Million Dollars," another chart topper that reached gold and platinum status. Their trend of success continued and "Million Dollars" was followed by numerous golden hits. Having toured the globe performing with groups like The Temptations, The Manhattans and Ray, Goodman & Brown (aka The Moments), having received multiple gold and platinum records as well as various awards and accolades one might ask so what's the all about anyway? It's about about history and accomplishment. It's about success and perseverance. For Soul Generation "It's about the music." The music that dwells deep within their souls clamoring for release. It's about love. Love of what they do and whom they do it for. It's about validation. Validation of who they are, their talent, their commitment and their dedication.
