Details: DJ Phase has been DJing since 1971 and was with the Chuck City Crew.  Born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx.  Being a Bronxdale Boy he is a pioneer in hip hop and one of the first to play breaks.  Phase was also one of the first DJs with Disco King Mario.  He started his career at the early age of 5 as a drummer.  As a professional drummer his talents were obvious in various Broadway plays, such as Your Arms are to Short To Box with God, Pippin, A Raisin in The Sun, The Wiz and A Children's Legacy.  He attended both Syracuse University and New York University, while also DJing for Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde.  He was known  as a graffiti writer with Tag name Phase.  Which lead to later becoming known as DJ Phase.  He is one of the original five members of Shaka  Zulu's- Zulu Nation.  Where his DJing skills  took him to Europe as a DJ for the Universal Zulu Nation Tour.    DJ Phase was hired to consult and work with various groups such as Black Sheep, NuSounds and Strictly Roots to just name a few.  His skills on the turntables have been obvious since the 70's and 80's where he worked at 371 Club with DJ Hollywood, and played at places like JHS 123, Edenwald Community Center, T-Connection, Savory Manor and Rooftop.  In 1982 he worked with Jazzy J Studios where he worked with Mc-Stik-E, Diamond D, NuSounds, Jungle Brothers, SWV and Nine.    His talents once again took him to the road where he opened for Karmella Kream.  He is a member of the All in the Crates group.  His passion for music has lead him to be a record connoisseur and he has collected records with Biz Markie, Kid Capri, Len Funk, Afrika Bambaataa and DJ Islam..  Currently you can find him working at After 7 Lounge and The Bistro.  When he's not at these locations you can find him working at Hot 97 in New York, 107.5 WBLS or 98.7 Kiss
