Slam 100.5FM radio personality J Angel is yet another DJ stepping into the soca arena with her 2013 release Jook It. “The idea came about with me sitting home in my bedroom meditating on getting a song that can make people move and free up themselves for Carnival. I thought it was the correct idea to go with because not everyone can wine but everyone knows how to jook,” said the artiste. Madmen producers Johann Seaton and Rykky worked hard to give the song the Carnival feeling. J Angel explained: “I walked into the studio with my idea then two other writers got involved—Kern Rose and Rayza. We then started creating beats. The first two beats they built didn’t give me that extra edge. However, on the third try it was a success resulting in Jook It.” J Angel said she also got advice from Machel Montano and support on the project. This was not her first musical experiment, however. “Earlier this year I was also one of the co-writers along with Emmanuel from Ghostwriters on Kees Dieffenthaller’s Olympic song, We are Conquerors that was also produced by Madmen Producers.” According to J Angel, this is the first of much more to come. “My journey has just started and I’m ready for it.” Find out more on her Facebook page: J Angel
